Google beefs up anti-piracy service for online video

Google has agreed to buy anti-piracy software firm Widevine in an attempt to further expand its portfolio of online video services.
Google stated that the Widevine acquisition will help to strengthen its position in the market for online video content protection services, focusing on the Seattle-based firm’s special digital rights management technology.
The purchase further reflects Google’s investment in online video as a major part of its business going forward. Financial details of the deal are yet to be released.
